Let’s hear it for the Thai Customs: acting on a tip, 451 turtles were confiscated from a passenger flight from Bangladesh at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport. Unbelievably, the turtles were stuffed into suitcases. Along with the turtles authorities found 7 freshwater crocodiles.
The low-life scumbag who smuggled the wildlife ran off before being caught. But he lost about $40,000 in probable sales. The turtles were heading no doubt to the Chatujak market in Bangkok, which contains over 11,000 stalls and shops featuring, among other things, endangered species for sale.
